Description
Bhutan - Land of Happiness, is a landlocked country located in the Eastern Himalayas in South Asia. It is bordered by China to the north, and by India to the south, east, and west. Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrive Phuentsholing from Bagdogra 170 km 4 – 5 hrs drive On arrival at Bagdogra Airport, transfer to Phuentsholing en-route visit Bengal Safari and Torsa Tea Garden. Bengal Safari Surrounded with luxuriant forest of Sal trees, Bengal Safari Park with its 700acre land gives closure toward wild side of North Bengal region. Visitors can spots wild animals like sambar deer, jungle fowl, wild boars, rhinoceros, spotted deer, and Royal Bengal of tiger during their visit of Bengal Safari Park. Toorsa Tea Garden is a beautiful place which is situated in India Border near by Bhutan. Enjoy the walk in the tea garden. (No tea tasting/factory visit will be possible).

Day 2 - Phuentsholing - Thimphu – capital city 179 km 5 -6 hrs drive Morning process for route permit and transfer to the capital city Thimphu through the mountains, this journey is of almost unbelievable beauty. The road leads from the northern Indian tea plantations through endless turns, hair pin bends and daring stretches carved into the mountain rock via Chukka to Thimphu. Check in the hotel.
Afternoon you can relax and in the evening spend some time in clock tower square.

Day 3 - Thimphu sightseeing with 45 minutes Wangditse Nature Trail walk When in Thimphu you got to prepare for surprises where this unique capital has no traffic lights but adopted its own version of the British – Indian colonial times traffic policemen who can startle you and memorize others with his elaborate hand gestures, sometimes he may be signaling stop when it looks like go but don’t worry you can observe the flow and notice his smile as you stare at him. Morning we take a 45 minutes easy Wangditse Natural Trail walk through the pine forest overlooking Tashichho Dzong and Thimphu valley. On return we visit Takin Reserve. (Folk Heritage Museum. Painting School, at additional cost) National Memorial Chorten a stupa dedicated to the third king of Bhutan and Buddha statue, Paper Factory,(at additional cost) Kaja Throm, Handicraft market. Later free time for shopping or leisure.

Day 4 - Thimphu –Dochula pass 10,000 ft – Punakha 77 km 3 hrs Morning after breakfast we will be driving through the first mountain pass in the western part of Bhutan leading to the beautiful Dochula pass (10,000 ft). On a clear weather you will be able to see the highest peaks towards the north, Gangar Punsum among others is the highest unclimbed peak (24,000 ft) in the worldand a visit to the Royal Botanical Park which forms the back drop of Dochula pass The park forms a biological corridor of 47 square miles (120 km2) between the Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park and the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Park which is spread over an area of 125 acres.There are 46 species of rhododendron of which 18 species are native to the park while the other 26 species are brought from other regions of Bhutan and planted here. Stop at Lamperi Royal Botanical Park for 30 minutes(at additional cost). If you are lucky you could see red pandas, different species of birds, you can take some photo shot close to the natural lake. You could watch a short documentary about the park. Proceed down toward the old capital Punakha and explore Chimi Lhakhang- ( at additional cost) and later we visit the majestic Punakha Dzong and Suspension bridge. Evening spend some time at Kaja Throm.

Day 5 - Punakha - Paro 142 km 4 hrs Morning transfer to Paro enroute visit Tachog Lhakhang Iron bridge, Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong), (National Museum-at additional cost) housed in a round fortress called as the Ta Dzong considered to be one of the best natural history museums in Asia where it has a fine collection of natural and historic artifacts. A short drive till the view point to take a glimpse of Tigers Nest Monastery will fascinate you and evening at leisure.

Day 6 - Paro After early breakfast , at additional cost you can take the hike to the world famous Tigers Nest Monastery. The round hike takes at least 5 – 6 hours ,12kms stretch but it is worth a visit once in a lifetime. Afternoon leisure time or visit the town for shopping. Evening at leisure.

Day 7- Paro – Jaldapara 180 km 4.5 hrs - 5 hrs drive & Exit Bhutan Morning transfer to Phuentsholing and exit Bhutan. On reaching Jaldapara, check in at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 8- Jaldapara – Bagdogra Airport 130 kms 4 hrs approx Departure transfer to Bagdogra Airport for onwards connection.
